Story of My Life: Uptown Charlotte & the Lightrail

Yesterday was a beautiful day! It was supposed to be a high of 64 and sunny. In January. I know, crazy right?! You’d think I’d be used to it after Colorado’s schizophrenic weather but after a few weeks of overcast skies I was in need of more sunshine! My friends Geoff and Calun treated me and let me tag along with them and their two cuties and we all rode the Charlotte light rail for the first time. :) Such an adventure!

This is where we started.

Annabelle is such a ham for the camera, as soon as she sees it she turns on this HUGE grin!

Judah was very excited to be riding the choo choo train!

Our stop near the Epicentre.

Me & the Judah man. :)

The columns of quotes outside the Library are so great!

Beautiful sunset on the way home. :)

This was very exciting to me because I’ve been wanting to explore Uptown Charlotte more and I realized just how accessible it is and where some sweet things are that I want to go back to! What is your favorite place in Charlotte, or your city?

  1. One of my favorite places/areas is just right outside uptown. It’s called Dilworth and one of my favorite things to do is to walk through the smaller less traveled streets and admire all the historic bungalows they have. You have got to check out this renovated one that is completely unique from any others that I have ever seen. It’s on ideal way between Dilworth road east and park road. I think you will know which one I am talking about. Look for the narrow house.

    • Hello Billy! I was actually right in that exact area yesterday!! I went to Dilworth Coffee with a friend and then we wandered through the streets for a couple of hours admiring and discussing the relative merits of the bungalows. It’s a beautiful part of town and that little park hidden down in there is lovely! We are definitely going to have some adventures down there again. We walked back out at East & Park but I don’t know if I noticed that specific house. I will definitely keep my eyes open for it next time! There is one that is bright blue as you’re coming up Park that looks like a beach house got dropped into the middle of the street. I’ll have my pictures up from yesterday either later today or tomorrow. :) Thanks for the tip! There’s so many hidden gems in Charlotte, any other places you’d recommend?
