Alex & Jessica – Engaged.

Alex & Jessica were so fun to work with! They got up super early and braved the freezing cold weather (it was 27 degrees when we started) so that we could get some amazing sunrise photos for their engagement. We went to a lookout point at Eden Park in Cincinnati, Ohio to do their photos, the view was amazing!!1 Alex & Jessica have such a great story, they were assigned to be lab partners in an Anatomy & Physiology class and became friends, now here they are three years later getting married! They seem like such good friends and you can tell by being with them how much they care about each other. Congratulations Alex & Jessica!!

Cincinnati Trip Preview

This past weekend I took a trip to Cincinnati, Ohio to visit my brother & sister-in-love and take a bunch of pictures! It was such a great trip! We were blessed with marvelous weather and some really fun locations, not to mention amazing people to photograph! There will be much more coming soon!

We started the weekend off right with lots of good food.

Then we did a super fun “Trash the Dress” shoot with Joe & Meg.

Then we had more good food.

I got up reeeeeally early on Monday to do a sunrise engagement shoot with Alex & Jessica! They were such good sports braving not only the dark but also the freezing cold weather. I’d say it was worth it for those colors!

I went back to Joe & Meg’s house for about an hour and then headed to the other side of town to do a fun maternity shoot with Brayton & Nikki. When I say fun, I mean fun. We’re talking finger paint, musical instruments, and their super eclectic style.

We took Megan’s bestie Melissa out for her 21st birthday right before I left and we surprised her by doing a mini shoot downtown.

I also made a quick 12-hour stop in Columbus, Ohio on my way home and did a mini-shoot with my friend Tina Marie.

More than anything it was truly a delight to get to spend so much time with my dear brother and his lovely wife. I had only seen them once since their wedding in November and it was so nice to get to hang out together without the wedding rush.

Lots of editing ahead but I’m so excited to share these pictures with you that it should go quickly! Keep your eyes peeled (what a weird expression) for more!

Joseph & Megan – Going to the Chapel { Charlotte Engagement Photographer }

My brother Joseph met a very sweet young woman named Megan at a youth conference last year and she made quite an impression on him (he made one on her too that part just didn’t come out for a while.) In the course of the introduction he managed to get her email address. After several months of emailing and a holiday visit to her family’s home in Ohio they decided to pursue a relationship together and it didn’t take long for them to realize, even long distance, that they were meant to be together forever! Joe asked Megan to marry him during a sunrise hike in the Boulder foothills. Since this was already a special place to them, and because I love any excuse to visit Boulder, we decided to do their engagement photos at Chautauqua Park and on Pearl Street. We wanted to style the shoot a bit so we ran by the thrift store on our way to Boulder and miraculously found these amazing suitcases and blanket for less than $10. We then ran into a party store and got these two HUGE balloons which all added so much to the fun and flavor of their pictures. I love styled shoots!!

It’s so hard to pick faves from this shoot because there are so many that I LOVE!Practicing teamwork packing everything up to head downtown!

Lucas Puts a Ring on Rachael

While I was visiting my family and friends in Colorado a couple of weeks ago I had the honor (and joy) of getting to photograph my friend Lucas proposing to his (now) fiancee Rachael! My friend Andrea and I tried to sneakily follow them up Mount Evans, passing gorgeous mountain views as we made our way, until Lucas pulled over at a pre-arranged spot and climbed a huge rock with Rachael to “show her the view.” I got out of the car on the other side and walked around trying to look nonchalant and pretending to take pictures of the scenery. I walked closer and then started snapping away when I saw Lucas reach back into the camera bag he was wearing on his belt and pull out a little red box…

She has no idea what is about to happen.

Sarah + Chris = Going to the Chapel

I met Chris and Sarah after I moved to Charlotte and they have quickly become two of my favorite people. I remember meeting Sarah at a small group meeting for our church, she came up and introduced herself under the pretext that we had seen each other around all the time but had not met and it was just too awkward to keep seeing me and not say hi haha! They are such great, straight forward, no-nonsense, high quality people and I’m so excited to see them get married! I know that incredible, world changing things are going to come from this couple and I can hardly wait to see their story continue to unfold! I’m so glad that I got to have a little part in it! Without further ado, I give you, Chris & Sarah!
