This year I had the joy of getting to celebrate the 56th anniversary of my grandparents marriage. My Mom’s parents, Grandpa John & Grandma Sandie (or Grandma Sugar as my family calls her), had a little family gathering at their house, which is a little bit off the beaten path in North Carolina. I love getting to visit their house because it is so peaceful and beautiful, far away from consistent cell phone reception and traffic noises. They live in a very old restored farmhouse surrounded by untamed woods and fishing ponds. They are also some of the sweetest people that I know and I always leave spending time with them refreshed and encouraged.

Really, what’s not to love?
Telling the story of how they met in Hawaii – Grandma went to visit on a sorority trip and Grandpa was living there, batchin’ it with some friends. It was basically love at first sight! They got married three. months. later. When you know, you know!

I love this picture so much! It’s them literally just moments before they met, my Grandpa is going in to introduce himself to my seemingly blissfully unaware Grandma. Can you spot them? Grandpa is the handsome man in the dark jacket and tie right in the middle and Grandma is the lovely smiling lady in white to his left (or your right).

I love this picture so much, from their wedding album, the “Get Away Car” shot!

Grandma with the first great grand child, little man Zeven.

What’s a family gathering without food?

My cousin Olivia with her little boy.

This was when they were laughing at me for being the “just one more!” picture girl.
