Story of My Life: Me

This morning I had an interview so I was dressed up and looking my best first thing!  I had on a bit more makeup and fancier clothes than usual and had a good time of it.  After coming home I decided to take advantage of the light and the make up and take a few self portraits.

I hope you enjoyed getting a closer look at me!

Story of My Life: Pretty Skies

Today I took what was intended to be a short nature walk that turned into a full blown adventure, complete with taking a new trail that led me down to a lovely sandly bank by a quietly flowing stream.  This trail also took me in the opposite direction of my car when I thought it was taking me back to it.  :)   Gotta love adventures!  I was on an artist date – an excursion that is solely for the purpose of refilling my creative well, finding beautiful things that make me feel alive and that stimulate that artistic side of me, so that I have creativity to pull on later when I need it.  Because I was trying to refill and not work I did not take my SLR with me, but I did snap a few pictures on my little whiteberry (I have a blackberry that is white and my friends call it a whiteberry haha!) that I thought I’d share with you!  The sky was too pretty not to capture at all!

If you want to read the full detailed account of my adventure you can check it out here. :)   Happy adventuring!

Cincinnati, I’m coming your way!

Hello Cincinnati friends!  I am going to be in Cincinnati from February 16th – 21st and I am running a special just for you!  Please see the details below and don’t hesitate to contact me with any questions.  :)   I hope to see you there!

Story of My Life: Dilworth

Oh hey there!  You remember my friend Sarah Bryan don’t you?  She’s the fabulous interior designer, artist, and creator of Aisle14Designs, not to mention one of my dear friends.  I love hanging out with Sarah, our styles and cultures are so different and yet we get along so well!  She is the consummate modern, yet classic, Southern young lady and I am a laid back, slightly hippie, Westerner. It is amazing how many kindred spirits there are in the world, such a delightful discovery!  We went to Dilworth to check out the new design of Dilworth Coffee and get a hot drink on such an overcast day.  It’s amazing how much design makes an impact in the atmosphere of a place, this design felt solid, mature, and yet vibrant.  Not to mention that it had great light which is always a plus in my book!

We sat and enjoyed our dirty chai lattes (chai with a shot of espresso in it) and then decided to risk the chance of rain and set out to explore the area.  Meandering through shopping areas and then into quaint neighborhood streets until our feet hurt while discussing (with many rabbit trails intermingled) creative community, the houses we liked, and the merits of various designs was the gist of our afternoon.  We never did get rained on, the weather was just perfect! This was one of my favorites from the day.

If you would like to see more, there are more pictures (though there will be a couple of doubles) and a bit more commentary here. :)   Enjoy!

Story of My Life: Uptown Charlotte & the Lightrail

Yesterday was a beautiful day! It was supposed to be a high of 64 and sunny. In January. I know, crazy right?! You’d think I’d be used to it after Colorado’s schizophrenic weather but after a few weeks of overcast skies I was in need of more sunshine! My friends Geoff and Calun treated me and let me tag along with them and their two cuties and we all rode the Charlotte light rail for the first time. :) Such an adventure!

This is where we started.

Annabelle is such a ham for the camera, as soon as she sees it she turns on this HUGE grin!

Judah was very excited to be riding the choo choo train!

Our stop near the Epicentre.

Me & the Judah man. :)

The columns of quotes outside the Library are so great!

Beautiful sunset on the way home. :)

This was very exciting to me because I’ve been wanting to explore Uptown Charlotte more and I realized just how accessible it is and where some sweet things are that I want to go back to! What is your favorite place in Charlotte, or your city?
