If you have been following my blog for a while then the faces that you are about to see will be familiar ones. My brother Joseph married his sweet wife Megan on 11.11.11. I had the privilege of taking their engagement photos in Boulder and then photographing the reception at their wedding (I was in the ceremony). They are some of my favorite people in the world and it is not only because I’m related to them. :) Joseph is a wonderful man, very caring and thoughtful, entrepreneurial and inventive. Megan is a bit more structured although no less hospitable, an amazing cook (especially with a crockpot), a hard working nurse, and quite the go-getter. Her non-profit, Wawaza Movement, raised money to build an orphanage in Kenya by asking teenagers to give up a Chipotle and two Starbucks a month. These two are bound to be world changers, in fact, they already are!
Thankfully they’re up for adventure and we pulled off the side of the road and took the first half of these in a field before heading to Downtown Harrison to take the rest.
My little assistant, Megan’s youngest sibling, Molly.
My friend and housemate Ashely Loveland needed some head shots for her the new website for her job so we decided to go out and have some fun. Ashley is just covered in awesomesauce. She is the online director of a school, an amazing chef, passionate about politics and the things going on in the world, all around an incredible woman. Not to mention that awesome hair.
I met Chris and Sarah after I moved to Charlotte and they have quickly become two of my favorite people. I remember meeting Sarah at a small group meeting for our church, she came up and introduced herself under the pretext that we had seen each other around all the time but had not met and it was just too awkward to keep seeing me and not say hi haha! They are such great, straight forward, no-nonsense, high quality people and I’m so excited to see them get married! I know that incredible, world changing things are going to come from this couple and I can hardly wait to see their story continue to unfold! I’m so glad that I got to have a little part in it! Without further ado, I give you, Chris & Sarah!
A while back I went on a planning retreat to Moravian Falls with the admin job that I’m presently working and at the end of it one of the ladies treated all of us to a day at the Biltmore Estate. I came no where near capturing the immensity and grandeur of this incredible “house” in Asheville, NC. It was such a treat to get to explore the house – we did both an audio tour and the Butler’s tour – and hear the history of the place. I was quite dismayed to discover that they don’t allow any photos inside the house but I grabbed a few quick snaps on the outside. Here are a few of my favorites!
We ate lunch in part of the massive stables that had been converted into a cafe. I really liked their light fixtures…which my friends teased me about a bit…they were far from the fanciest ones we saw that day.
My friend and fellow explorer Nichole.
To enter the house you had to pass by these fierce sentinels
There were mischievous looking gargoyles all over the outsides of the house.
Not my favorite picture of me, but my friends look good (I’m the one awkwardly holding the camera – purple scarf)! :) Proof that we were really there!
My dear friends Maggie and Vinny! Their story is one of patience and long lasting love. Maggie is a singer and songwriter with a voice like honey and Vinny is one of those men who can do anything. Together they are quite a pair! Since these photos were taken they’ve gotten married and are now expecting a baby! Such dear friends and I’m so glad that they are together at last. Here is a little sneak peek of their sweet love!
Not only is Ashley totally fabulous just in who she is, but when we took these she had just returned from a fashion internship in New York City. How awesome is that?! The red dress she’s wearing in the beginning is a piece from one of the designers she worked with. Ashley! I had such a great time working with you! I wish you all the luck in the world as you pursue your dreams! Go get ’em!
From the very first contact that I had with Jesseca I was excited about doing her family’s portraits. She has so much style and flair and her two boys were not only super adorable but also have sweet personalities. Gotta love those little hats and ties! Not only were they delightful to photograph but I loved getting to know Jesseca a little bit through our conversation as we tramped through the back alleyways in Olde Town. Having clients who become friends is one of the best parts about my job! Jesseca you are a beautiful and delightful woman and your sons are going to grow up to be fantastic men!
